This weekend marks an unofficial beginning to the Outer Banks summer season. Though summer is still far away, this weekend marks a flurry of activities that should successfully kick off summer in the Outer Banks. Four events highlight this weekend: Inter-Tribal Powwow, Outer Banks Triathlon, Dare County Theater, and Outer Banks Bike Week. The combined draw of all these events should make for a festive weekend. If you get a chance to come visit…why not make it this weekend? You won’t be looking for something to do!

Well the time has finally come. America will have its first wind powered brew pub. As part of a growing group of earth conscious business owners, the Outer Banks Brewing Station worked hard to reach April 22nd. On April 22nd, the Outer Banks Brewing Station will turn on its 10KW wind turbine. As a lover of the Brewing Station’s beer, I hope the famed Outer Banks wind doesn’t decide to slow. The same force that made the Wright’s famous will now work to power enviromentally-friendly beer.
To celebrate the launch of the wind turbine, the OBBS will host a party on April 22nd for Earth Day 2008. The party is to celebrate their launch as the first wind powered brew pub. What can be better than fossil fuel free beer. There will be live music from noon to six. $1 OBBS Beers and Southern Pig Pickin. The event is free and is being held rain or shine. For all lovers of everything green and beer, this is not to be missed. For more information, visit their website
