Outer Banks Beaches PDF Print E-mail

obx-1_-_37.jpg  Perhaps one of the best kept secrets here on the Outer Banks are the pristine sandy beaches.  You may say that it is why you would come here, but I doubt you have yet enjoyed the beach to its fullest. Dr Beach  tried to give the secret away this year, naming Ocracoke the best beach in America.  Though it has been that way for awhile, he went and announced it to the world.

Sure everyone gets prepped and psyched up for the glorious "picture perfect" day at the beach.  You've got the crew slathered in sunblock, the beach gear is ready with everything from the basic towel to the full shade- on-shade canopy.  There's the radio, reading material, sand toys, football, and of course, the cooler.  During the summer months, it may get much more crowded in certain locations, more so than some others, but it is no Jersey shore.

However, there are miles of uninhabitated beach along the National Seashore and it just takes a little time looking for the right spot.  Many designated areas allow you to drive on the beach year-round.  Also, along certain areas of Nags Head and the National Seashore, ground beach fires are allowed if conditions are permitting below the high tide mark.  Also, while you're at the beach, don't forget the BBQ.  What beats sitting on the beach and grilling up some hamburgers or a seafood feast?  Whatever your pleasure may be, please be careful and properly extingush your grill.

As you sit there with the sun setting at your back, smoke coming off the grill, some choice beverages, and of course your friends and family near with not a person around as far as the eye can see,  you realize you are actually taking a vacation in paradise!
